After upgrading to the latest MacBook, you figure out that all the messages that you have sent using your iPhone are not populating on Mac or vice versa. It’s basically a common synchronization issue.

On your Mac
Open the Messages app from the Docks. If it isn’t available there, then click on the LaunchPad and then from the list of apps open Messages.
Next, iMessage login dialog will open. Here, you need to enter your Apple ID credentials, if you want to messages to come across.
Once done, iMessage will open up.
Click on the Messages menu available on the upper left corner and select Preferences from the menu.
In the General window, you need to switch to the iMessage tab. Here head over to the “You can be reached for messages at” section, make sure the box for your phone is checked.
With default settings, it’s checked but still double-check to keep yourself on the safe side.
You have activated everything on Mac.
On your iPhone
Open Settings app and then scroll down until your find Messages app and then tap to open it.
On this page, you need to make sure, iMessage is turned ON and then tap on Text Message Forwarding
Here, you will find all the devices that you have added. You need to make sure that the slider for that particular Mac device is turned ON if you want to Send and Receive text messages.
From now onwards all your message will appear on the Mac.
In case, you want to sync all old messages that are available in iCloud to Mac, then here’s what you need to do:
On your Mac, click on the Message menu > Preferences > General > iMessage. Here, you need to check the box for “Enable Messages in iCloud“.
